At Shutterpug, your pet is the star of the show! My goal is to make the entire experience fun, stress-free, and seamless—from booking to the final reveal of your stunning portraits. Here’s how the Shutterpug Experience flows:
📅 Step 1: Booking Your Session
Sessions take place in my climate-controlled studio in Fredericksburg, VA, where we can create beautiful portraits year-round. The booking process is simple—just select a time from my online calendar, sign your contract, and pay your session fee to secure your spot.
🎨 Backdrop Selection Guide – As part of the booking process, you’ll choose two backdrop colors that best complement your pet’s fur and your home décor. This ensures your final portraits look stunning wherever you display them.
Step 2: Getting Ready
Once booked, you’ll receive my Session Prep Guide, packed with helpful tips on:
✔ What to bring (think favorite treats, toys, and comfort items)
✔ What to wear (if you plan to be in the photos!)
✔ How to create eye-catching color combos with your chosen backdrop colors
The goal? To make sure your session is fun, relaxed, and tailored to your pet’s personality.
📸 Step 3: The Portrait Session
Welcome to the studio! This is where the magic happens. Sessions last about 60 minutes, allowing plenty of time for your pet to get comfortable, explore the space, and take breaks as needed.

Step 4: Image Reveal & Ordering
Two weeks after your session, you’ll receive a beautifully curated slideshow preview of at least 20 edited images. Your session fee already includes a base number of digital images, but if you fall in love with more (and trust me, you will!), you’ll have the option to upgrade to a larger collection.
Every collection also comes with a print credit, because your pet’s portraits deserve to be more than just files on a screen. There’s nothing like seeing their joyful expression or signature head tilt displayed on your walls or as a coffee table centerpiece—a daily reminder of the love they bring to your life. These tangible keepsakes bring their spirit to life every day and spark meaningful conversations with friends and family.
